ROHM has expanded its lineup of EROM (Embeddable BCI-ROM) models for shunt resistors, making the new additions available directly on its website. These enhanced models are also now integrated as standard components within Siemens’ Simcenter Flotherm* electronic thermal design software, enabling more accurate and efficient simulations.

ROHM’s shunt resistors are extensively used across automotive and industrial equipment, valued for their high-accuracy current sensing and long-term reliability. With this update, the PMR series has been added to the EROM lineup, joining the previously available PSR series to offer designers a broader range of precision options.

The EROM models deliver high accuracy with a measurement deviation of just ±5% for both surface temperature (ΔT) and thermal resistance. This precision enables thermal analysis that closely mirrors real-world operating conditions, improving simulation accuracy during the design phase and boosting overall development efficiency.

Furthermore, with their standard integration into Simcenter Flotherm, these models simplify the sharing of thermal analysis data between component manufacturers and system designers. This enables highly accurate, efficient simulations while preserving the confidentiality of proprietary information.

Going forward, ROHM aims to further strengthen customer design and development workflows by expanding its portfolio of high-performance components and delivering even more capable, next-generation simulation models. These enhancements are intended to help engineers achieve faster, more accurate, and more reliable design outcomes.

Available as a standard feature in Simcenter Flotherm version 2510 and later.

Terminology

EROM (Embeddable BCI-ROM) for Secure and Efficient Thermal Simulation

EROM (Embeddable BCI-ROM) is a reduced-order model designed for seamless use within Simcenter Flotherm, enabling engineers to run fast and highly accurate thermal simulations. It allows manufacturers to share thermal models without exposing internal component structures, ensuring confidentiality while maintaining precise analysis capabilities.

Simcenter Flotherm is a specialized CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tool developed by Siemens for thermal and cooling design in electronic devices. It delivers rapid and accurate thermal insights from early design stages through final validation, supporting engineers in building reliable and thermally optimized products.
