BLDC FOC 2 Click is a new BLDC motor control Click board from MIKROE, an embedded solutions company known for reducing development time through innovative, standards-based hardware and software. The compact Click add-on board allows developers to quickly build proof-of-concept designs, followed by rapid prototyping and application development. BLDC FOC 2 Click delivers robust and reliable control of three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motors using advanced Field-Oriented Control (FOC) techniques, enabling smooth operation, high efficiency, and low acoustic noise.

Commenting on the launch, Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE, said the new Click board is well suited for automotive and industrial applications, including battery cooling fans, radiator fans, and fuel or oil pump control systems. He added that BLDC FOC 2 Click is part of MIKROE’s portfolio of more than 140 motor control Click boards, with over 850 projects featuring working code available on the company’s EmbeddedWiki platform.

motor controller from Allegro Microsystems, capable of delivering up to 15A of output current over a wide operating voltage range of 4.4V to 30V. The controller supports multiple operating modes, including constant speed, torque, power, and open-loop control. It offers flexible configuration through EEPROM and an I²C interface, enabling parameter adjustment, ON/OFF control, and speed feedback. The solution also integrates Allegro’s proprietary Soft-On Soft-Off (SOSO) technology for quiet motor transitions, along with comprehensive protection features and support for both analog and digital control modes.

BLDC FOC 2 Click is built around the A89307, an automotive-grade FOC BLDC BLDC FOC 2 Click is the latest addition to MIKROE’s portfolio of more than 1,900 mikroBUS™-enabled Click boards. It features the ClickID function, which allows automatic board identification by the host system, simplifying setup and integration. The board is compatible with any host system that supports the mikroBUS standard and is backed by mikroSDK open-source libraries, providing developers with extensive flexibility for evaluation, customization, and rapid development.
